When Isaac left us way too soon in April of this year he left a huge, boisterous, goofy, kind, red-headed void in South Minneapolis and beyond. One of the languages of Ike’s heart was music. We’ve curated this space to showcase a collection of music, videos, photos, and tributes.

Isaac Paul Russell-Hart, born August 21, 1980 and died in spring of 2023.
Ike had a boisterous presence, a booming voice, and a beatific smile. His presence was well-known in his beloved West Bank neighborhood-which was memorialized in ink across his knuckles. The son of Minneapolis musicians Mike “Razz” Russell and Marya Hart, Ike was himself a well-known musician, who performed with a wide variety of local bands, principally on the bass.
Ike is preceded in death by his grandfather Del Russell, grandparents Joanne and Nathaniel Hart, and by his uncle, Mark Russell.
He is survived by his mother and father; wife Madeleine Pinkerton; children Amari Vaughan, Sebastian Hart, and Oliver Russell; siblings Odin, Kai, and Anna Russell, and Hannah Kotze Miller; stepmother Maria Asp; grandmother Shirley Russell; dozens of beloved relatives; and an enormous community of friends.
Like many, Isaac struggled with his mental health. If you or someone you love is experiencing a mental health crisis, the family urges you to reach out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which offers resources and referrals for those suffering. Whether you are knowingly affected by mental health struggles or not, your help is sorely needed as an advocate for better treatment options.
